Pictures from Paris: #2 Top of the Tower and Locks of a Bridge

Posted by admin on 06 Aug 2013 / 0 Comment

Hello again!

I am, once again, happy to bring you some photo from Paris, after a very productive day. It all started with a trip to the top of the Eiffel Tower. On any regular day, that would be the highlight. Well, not today.

We started the day with a goodly amount of standing and waiting. Though we had tried to beat the crowds by getting to the Eiffel Tower by 9 when it opens, they were there already. So that meant plenty of time to experiment. One of those is this silhouette of the northeast leg of the tower.

From the very top of the tower, the view was to be expected - spectacular! Among many other things, it gave a great view of the gardens just below.

After descending the tower's many stairs, we took what ended up being a very, very long walk, and early on, we found an amazing little alcove-of-a-street. The buildings inside looked just amazing, it had a lovely view of the Eiffel Tower, and just for good measure, a fairly skilled violinist was practicing from one of the upper windows. Magnifique!

I mustn't forget the strong history of black and white photography in Paris, and so, here you are - Louis XIV, as depicted outside the Louvre.

Just to show that black and white photos can be a little more modest, here are some ducks who were resting beside the Seine, and were not afraid of people one bit.

Near the ducks, there was some plants in the water. They actually reminded me of Monet paintings, so I thought lets make them look like one. What do you think?

To finally put your thoughts to rest about what was even better than the Eiffel Tower, it was this bridge. Lovers have been placing locks on the Pont des Arts for at least a few years now to signify the strength of their love. In a scheme that took months to put together, I chose this site as the place to propose to my girlfriend. We are now engaged. This is our lock.

Finally, I must give a nod to the Metro. It is the underground train system that unlocks the beauty of Paris for very little money, and eliminates the majority of the walking. I will be making better use of it from here on out, or my legs and feet will mutiny.

There is my second day in Paris. Hope you enjoyed what you saw. There is so much more upcoming and left over, so stay tuned!
