Hello all!
This week, I have an especially large post for you. So large, it is a gallery. So I will just post a few photos here, and if you want to see the rest, just click HERE .
This week, my girlfriend and I took a quick trip up to the Northwest Territories. We had heard of some lovely waterfalls there, and wanted to see them before our trip to Paris next week. So, despite heavy rain, we went camping farther north than we have ever been. It was awesome!
Here is an idea of what we saw. There were some magnificent waterfalls here – three in total. In this photo, I was able to use a slow shutter speed to get a good blur effect with the water. Make sure to use a tripod when taking this kind of shot, and you need an overcast day so that the bright light doesn’t blow out your shot.
The way down to one of the waterfalls was actually a really beautiful place in and of itself. I really like this shot. The diffused, soft light coming through the clouds and the forest’s canopy really made for some great looking colours and shades.
When going on trips like this, it is really important not to just focus on the one thing you came to see, but notice some other photo opportunities, like flowers and animals, or even really good textures like rock faces.
This squirrel was rather photogenic. He even posed for me on the side of this tree, but in the end, it was this sneaky, partially covered shot that I liked the most.
This was another detail that I really loved. The third waterfall in this area was rather small, but really looked architecturally amazing. I really liked these rocks, because they looked like a bunch of books toppled over. The colours in the rocks were also really cool.
Lastly, here is a quick shot of a very small piece of the very large, Great Slave Lake. It was really cool to get to Hay River and dip my feet in these waters. Also, the driftwood was amazing, and fast-shutter shots like this that freeze the waves were a lot of fun.
I hope you liked the photos here, and if you didn’t get enough, check out the whole gallery HERE .
Thanks for checking out my shots. The next ones you see will be from Paris! So make sure to check it next week!
